Identity,
Memory,
Power.
Hi there! I’m Zuel Han Chang, and this website is a curated collection of my work over the years. From advocating for human rights in Guatemala to researching volcanic activity and building open-source technology, this space is my visual résumé — a reflection of the causes I care about and the questions I pursue.
Growing up in Guatemala has shaped how I see the world — and how I choose to respond to it. For a long time, I saw only what was missing: the instability, the inequality, the systems that failed people like my neighbors, classmates, and teachers. But over time, I’ve come to realize that loving my country doesn’t mean ignoring its flaws — it means looking straight at them, and doing something about it.
For me, love has become action: painting murals that demand women’s rights, building low-cost computers for rural students, and founding initiatives that challenge silence with truth. My way of caring is rooted in participation — not waiting for change, but stepping up to be part of it.
That’s why I chose the keywords identity, memory, and power to organize this portfolio. These three ideas are the foundation of everything I do — understanding where I come from, remembering the voices that get erased, and using what I know to build toward justice.
